A Call for Sag Harbor Stories and Pictures

As you celebrate the holidays, you might encounter some stories and pictures that SHHS would love to include in our upcoming projects!

SHHS Trustee Martha Potter, who helped put together the Voices of Sag Harbor book project during her time at John Jermain Memorial Library, and brings extensive oral history experience, is leading a project to collect oral histories on the Bulova Watchcase Factory. If you or someone you know worked at Bulova Watchcase Factory we would love to hear from you and interview anyone who worked in the watchcase factory.

SHHS plans our Spring/Summer 2014 exhibit to focus on Sag Harbor and the Long Island Railroad. Many who have been around the village for awhile remember the Long Island Railroad Station that used to be in Sag Harbor. Many others have memories of taking the train into the village. SHHS would love copies of photos in your posession related to the Long Island Railroad in Sag Harbor. Do you have pictures of the old station or train tracks downtown in your personal and family photograph collections? If so, SHHS would love to hear from you!

Please email us at info@sagharborhistorical.org or call the office at 725-5092.

SHHS is particularly interested in any images of Mr. Sweezey, who both worked on the railroad and invented a special signal for when the train was coming later.
